About e.constructe.construct is an engineering firm that specializes in providing elegant engineering solutions for complex challenges. e.construct is a fast growing firm with 7 offices around the world. At our core, we question how the very nature of how to evolve the structures that we inhabit to increase their performance and value.
e.construct designs structures such as bridges, high-rise design, precast concrete engineering and post-tensioning design. The firm's core work is structural engineering; however, e.construct is increasingly holistic at its approach to buildings and it has divisions in MEP, Geotechnical and emerging construction technology such as 3D printing of concrete, technology and 3D laser scanning.
We are searching for a methodical Geotechnical Engineer to join our VAES.ai team, a computational team that is being incubated within e.construct.
The ideal candidate is experienced with geotechnical engineering and knows programming languages such as python or C#/C++ and has worked, and enjoys, complex projects and geotechnical problems.
We are also open to candidates who have in-depth geotechnical engineering experience but want to learn programming and demonstrate that they have a strong interest in learning.
The candidate should have the following experience;In-depth knowledge and experience with geotechnical topics(the followings are examples: deep foundations, excavations, shoring, dewatering, piling and ground improvement methods, liquefaction studies and evaluation, and geotechnical and foundation specifications.)
In-depth knowledge and experience with numerical modelling, soil-structure interaction(static and dynamic), ground characterization and development of geotechnical parameters, and In-situ and laboratory testing.Responsibilities:

- Able to analyze field and laboratory test results to deduce the required geotechnical parameters.
- Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports.
- Perform geotechnical analysis and study to assess construction site conditions.
- Able to identify different geological and geotechnical hazards.
- Familiar with soil treatment and enhancement techniques.
- Plan a suitable geotechnical assessment plan based on the project requirements and expected geotechnical hazards.
- Familiar with different numerical modelling methods, techniques, and software.
- Able to represent real site problems into suitable numerical models.
- Review of geotechnical numerical models developed by others to identify used methodology, analyse gaps, and propose suitable enhancement measures.
- Familiar with problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and optimization techniques, and can develop simple algorithms.
- Able to develop simple coding via COM applications, and APIs using any of the available programming languages in any of the geotechnical software(e.g. Oasys Frew, Plaxis, FLAC)
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant subject with appropriate and sufficient experience in the field of geotechnical engineering either with civil consultancy or as a designer for a ground engineering contractor and accredited by the appropriate council.
- Proven experience in working in a fast-moving geotechnical engineering consultancy environment.
- In-depth experience in numerical modelling and analysis such as PLAXIS 2D/3D; FLAC 2D/3D; or MIDAS GTS.
- Experienced in general numerical software such as Geostudio, Repute, Wallap etc.
- Mathematics, science, and geological knowledge
- Project management experience and understanding of the needs and approaches to the engineering consultancy and design markets.
- Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead geotechnical teams and developers. Please do keep in mind that, in the first year, the role will be mainly technical and not managerial- We are looking to grow the team subsequent to that).
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- Completion of a pertinent graduate program is preferred.
- Experience with Open-Source FEA such as Code Aster, OpenSees, OpenFOAM, Fenics, etc.
- Chartered status or nearing Chartered status.
- Strong experience with Soil-Structure Interaction
- Knows programming languages such as Python or C#/C++
- Understanding of fundamental geotechnical constitutive models such as Mohr-Coulomb, Cam-Clay, and Soft Soil Creep model.
